Hi! We have talked much about plastic wastes, so, in this article we are showing you that there is another problem: the water waste!

In the world there are 1,338 millions of km3 of water.
It seems much but you have to know that only 3% of this consists in fresh water (polar ice caps included). So, 97% consists in salt water.
Only 1% of 3% fresh water is potable (so, we can drink it).
There is also another problem: many groundwater are used so long that at the end they can't regenerate and they become a non-renewable resource!

People who have an higher income use more water than people who have a lower one.
In some countries one person uses 800 liters A DAY! And when in some places 20 liters a day are a rare luxury, in others people use more than 20 liters only for watering the garden!
Of course there is a waste of water!
In many more developed countries the used water for industries may be up to 60%!
As well as domestic and industrial use, water is utilised in farming!
For 1 kg of these food you need:
-potatoes= 500 liters -rice= 1900 liters
-wheat= 900 liters -poultry= 3500 liters
-sorghum= 1100 liters -beef= 15000 liters
-soya= 1650 liters
Especially for making meat it is used a lot of water! It would be better to eat less of it. Maybe 2 times a week?
Here the problems of the water shortage:
-You can't grow up plants and you can't raise animals.
-You need of long travels to bring water at home.
-For drinking and washing you use dirty water (it causes bad illnesses!)
-Poor people have to spend a very big part of their money for buying water (that often is not potable)
-Many people die or get sick (especially children) because of the dirty and not potable water.
Let's start not wasting water!
