There is no person who has never used a plastic straw nowadays. Isn't it? Even you, who is reading this article, have used one for drinking a beverage. Don't you?
Well, we hope wholeheartedly that, after having finished reading our post, you will stop using straws and will be disgusted from people who do.
We start saying that plastic straws are made of... plastic. Now that you think about that it could seem something obvious, but we think that there are people who don't even realise this basic notion.
So, after having understood it, we have to focus on the terrible environmental effects of plastic. Are you displaying in your mind the images of dead fishes, polluted ex-magnificent landscapes and so on? We already talked about the impacts of plastic on the places we live in in some last articles.
Now, do you remember how much time does this material take to decompose? Hundreds of years.
After having remembered all these things we can return to our plastic straw. We are going to use this tool for one or two minutes, maybe less. But it will remain on earth for years and years, till it will decompose (or only transform into microplastics that will pollute our air, our oceans, our environment and all the species that live there).
Isn't this a very selfish action? To use this useless gadget for throwing it away immediately after? Killing animals then? And ruining people's lives also? Yes, it is.
Take a look at the photos of fishes killed by down here.
A very ignorant person would say that "it's just one straw" but we have to remember that we are 7.7 billion people on earth.
You can easily find some metal straws in the internet. You will be able to drink your juice ordinarily but without polluting the world. You will save lives.
Every single one of us can make the difference. And it's important to start doing it now. Or it will be too late.
